It’s so easy to make your own Chili Seasoning at home with common pantry spices. It’s budget-friendly, easily customizable to suit your taste, and is mixed up in just a few minutes!

We recently had a big snow day here where I live on the coast of NC, which is extremely RARE! I felt like a kid again for a short time, playing in the snow with my dogs. When it snows, I always try to make chili because snow days and a big pot of cozy chili are meant to be together, right?!
This easy seasoning mix is based on what I use when making chili. I find it’s the perfect blend – not too spicy or overwhelmingly hot. It’s just right. That’s the beauty of making your own seasoning blend – you can adjust the spices to what you like!
Chili Seasoning Ingredients

- Chili powder
- Dried oregano
- Ground cumin
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder
- Crushed red pepper flakes – Cayenne pepper can be substituted for red pepper flakes.
- Onion powder
Mix it Up!

Make this seasoning by whisking or stirring the spices together in a small bowl until well combined… it literally takes less than 5 minutes total!

Recipe Variations
- Adjust the heat: Increase or decrease the amount of red pepper flakes to your liking – or completely omit them.
- Add sweetness: Add a little brown sugar or ground cinnamon to add a touch of sweetness.
- Make it smoky: Add smoked paprika for a hint of smoky flavor.
