Caramel Apple Martini

Okay, y’all finally caught me on a bad day, but Pinnacle Vodka sure did make it a WHOLE LOT BETTER once I got home.

Caramel Apple Martini

Word.

I always try to stay upbeat and positive on the blog, but ya’ know what?  That’s not life all the time.  Sometimes, it really bites.

Today I had to meet with the divorce attorney, and you know what?  It sucked.  As I was sitting at that little round table with my little pen and pad taking notes, the last 12 years of my life flashed back during that golden $300 hour and I thought, “What in the hell did I get myself into?”.  WHY did I marry into a family (in-laws) that didn’t like me from day one?  WHY did I tolerate a little, manipulating, insecure TROLL trying to destroy me while preying on my {ex} husband for the past 10 years?

WTF was I thinking?  Here I am, almost 40 years old, and damn wasted the best years of my life on something that wasn’t “for better or for worse”.

Caramel Apple Martini

Not that I’m a bitter person, I’m really not!  My ex and I have maintained good terms.  We even have an informal “joint custody” with our dog, Chance.  We have no children, and Chance is the closest thing we have to a child.  Friday is our “pick-up day”.  He keeps him one week, I keep him the next.

It works, and it’s fair.  And I’m all about fair… but life isn’t always fair.  So you know what you have to do?  Suck it up and move on.

But hell, let me just tell you a little of what I’ve learned about dating this past year… it has been a train wreck to say the least!  LOL!

  • Run like hell from a guy that tries to tell you about his past sexual encounter(s) with multiple partners at a formal, elegant dinner.
  • Ditto goes for guys that you catch in little, insignificant white lies… If they lie about something small, you can bet your ass they’ll lie about something BIG.
  • If dating someone that is separated with kids… wait until they get divorce papers IN HAND before going on a date.

So, when I got home from the dreaded appointment with the attorney,  there was a glorious, white rectangular box by my front door and I knew what it was.

Pinnacle came to my emotional rescue.  I knew it was their newest flavor, Pinnacle Caramel Apple, and I was SO EXCITED to come up with a fabulous drink using it.

Sometimes great things come out of adversity.  You just have to keep pushing and realize there IS a rainbow at the end of all of your CRAP!  We all have it…  keep pushing, friends, keep pushing!

CHEERS!

Can’t wait to try this, looks delish! BTW, I’ve been though a divorce too, never easy. I was married to him for 15 years, and it was hell. I was single for about 13 years and now remarried for almost 18 years to a wonderful man. (Yes, I’m older than dirt, lol) Just adding that to let you know your best years are ahead of you, not behind you.

Thank you so much, Jody! And you are not older than dirt… lol!!! If you’d like to get together to make cocktails sometime just let me know. Have a great weekend! :-)

I’m not a drinker but had my first martini -key lime & adored it! Have been dreaming of a caramel apple martini to try next & stumbled on your site. Your post was refreshing, also have been there & done that, lessons learned. The hardest part of divorce after many years of difficult marriage is the idea of going out into the dating world!
It’s so difficult to connect w/new people when you’re older… Do not give up, after many frogs you will find your true prince. I did & it was worth the wait! ;-)
Cannot wait to try this awesome recipe! Thank you

Thank you so much, Di for your nice words! That post/recipe was a while back… I have since met my prince and we are currently on our late honeymoon traveling cross-country for the first time. Hope you enjoy the Caramel Apple Martini. Cheers!
