I grew up snacking on boiled peanuts.  They’re a southern thing, I guess! These are one of the best treats I can remember eating as a kid…. and I still enjoy them as an adult!
I couldn’t help but think of my beloved papa while smelling these cooking.  I was so much wishing he was still here to enjoy them with me!  When I was a child, wherever we went that was selling them we always got a bag.  It was probably the only way he could get me to stop talking for 10 minutes!  🙂
Several years ago while out on the boat, my friend Shannon broke out a huge Ziploc bag of boiled peanuts she made in her slow cooker.  All of us ate the entire bag that day!  😮  Of course I had to ask her how it was done.  CRAZY EASY!
These are a perfect snack for game day get-togethers, tailgating, boating or just eating at home (like I did!). Â I’m planning on making a big pot for my yearly fish stew party for people to munch on while the stew is simmering!
I seasoned mine with only salt, but you can also spice them up with cayenne pepper, Old Bay seasoning, garlic, or cajun seasoning.
It’s important to use “green” peanuts in this recipe (not roasted). Â Green peanuts are freshly picked and normally available between May and November. Â I purchased mine at my local farmer’s market, The Friendly Market. Â Enjoy!

The only way I boil peanuts. It doesn’t heat up the kitchen, like using the stove. Plus they do stay warm. I prefer warm boiled peanuts.

Sounds perfectly simple for my busy life. Can’t wait to try it out and surely enjoy…
I love boiled peanuts! In Florida, some stores add small pieces of corn on the Cobb, potatoes, sausage, onions, green&jalopena peppers,& neckbones too! It’s a whole crockpot meal! And it’s really delicious! Seasoned with garlic, cayenne pepper, red crush pepper& Cajun seasoning! GOOD!
Wow! I heard of someone speaking about adding neckbones to boiled peanuts and I thought they were crazy. Now I see it is REALLY a thing.
That sounds so good, I add a few eggs and let them hard boil in all those flavors, see if what you think
