    Woo Woo Cocktail

I’m excited to share this awesome peach and cranberry cocktail with you today… my simple variation of a Woo Woo Cocktail!

A cocktail in a glass with a striped straw and fresh peach garnish. A blue bottle of vodka is in the background.

Local lore has it here on the east coast of NC that this drink originated from a well-known and respected headboat captain, Captain Jimmy “Woo Woo” Harker of the Carolina Princess.  He passed away in 2006 and is a legend in our fishing community.  From the stories I’ve heard, he wasn’t known as a big drinker, but drank peach schnapps and cranberry juice on social occasions.  The cocktail became to be known as a “Woo Woo” locally.

I googled this cocktail and most of the recipes I saw incorporated vodka into the recipe.  I also didn’t see any reference to Captain Jimmy, so this is my tribute to him and his many years of dedication as a respected fisherman.

A cocktail prepared with peach vodka, cranberry juice and club soda beside fresh sliced peaches.

I recently received a bottle of peach vodka from the nice folks at Pinnacle.  When I opened the package my friend said, “You have to make a Woo Woo but leave out the peach schnapps!”.

Bottles of peach vodka, club soda and cranberry juice.

My oh so simple variation of this cocktail is Pinnacle Peach Vodka, cranberry juice (I used low-calorie and couldn’t taste the difference!) and club soda.  Proceed with caution and drink responsibly… this is one of those that you can’t taste any alcohol in.  Cheers!
