Whole Chicken Cooked in Your Air Fryer
I love cooking in my air fryer because I can cook using less oil and cleanup is a breeze. This tastes so much better than a grocery store rotisserie chicken, and a bonus is that your kitchen smells heavenly while it’s cooking!
Your Simple Ingredients
- Chicken – You’ll need a 3 to 4 pound whole chicken.
- Olive oil
- Herbs and seasonings – I use a blend of Italian seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt and black pepper. Feel free to use your personal favorites!
How to Prepare
- Prepare the chicken for air frying. Remove the giblets from the cavity if they are present. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels. Rub all over with oil, then with the seasoning mixture.
- Place the chicken breast side down in your air fryer basket. Cook at a temperature of 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.
- Flip the chicken over and cook for an additional 30 minutes, or until an internal temperature of 165 degrees F is reached.
Helpful Tips
- Choose the right size chicken for your air fryer. Ensure that your air fryer is large enough to accommodate the size of the chicken. The air will need adequate room to circulate around the chicken. My air fryer is 5.8 quarts and I cooked a 3 ¼ pound chicken.
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels before oiling and seasoning. This will help to ensure that the skin is perfectly crisp after air frying.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. The USDA recommends a temperature of 165 degrees F in the innermost part of the thigh and wing and the thickest part of the breast.
