These Air Fryer Carrots are prepared with fresh carrots, olive oil, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. They’re a flavor-packed, budget-friendly side dish that takes less than 30 minutes to prepare.

I recently made broccoli in the air fryer and knew carrots would be just as delicious! My two doggies love raw, cut carrots as a treat, so I always keep a bag in my fridge. When I tested the recipe, these carrots did not disappoint! They’re slightly charred and crisp on the outside, and tender and sweet on the inside.
I literally snacked on the entire basket throughout the day 😬, but knew it was totally okay because they’re super nutritious. 🥕
Ingredients

- Carrots – You’ll need 1 pound of medium to large raw carrots.
- Olive oil
- Herbs and seasonings – Dried rosemary, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
- Fresh parsley – Optional garnish.
How to Air Fry Carrots
The following is a brief overview; please see the recipe card for full, detailed instructions and ingredient amounts.

- After scrubbing and rinsing the carrots, cut off the tops (where the green stems are) and the narrow tips. Peel the carrots (I like to use a vegetable peeler).
- Cut the carrots lengthwise into 1-inch pieces.
- Cut the larger, thicker pieces crosswise in half.
- Place the carrots in a large bowl. Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with the herbs, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat as evenly as possible.
- Transfer to the basket of your air fryer and spread evenly.
- Air fry the carrots until slightly charred on the edges and easily pierced with a fork. Shake the basket halfway through the cooking time.
Is Peeling the Carrots Required?
I personally prefer peeled carrots, but no, peeling isn’t technically required. Be sure to scrub and rinse them thoroughly.
Can Baby Carrots be Roasted in the Air Fryer?
Absolutely! I also tested air-frying baby carrots. I found that since they are smaller in diameter, they take a little less time. Instructions for making baby carrots in the air fryer are included in the notes section of the recipe card.

Recipe Tips
- Cut the carrots into uniform-sized pieces so that they cook evenly. This is why I cut the thicker pieces in half crosswise – the goal is to have carrots that are about ½ inch thick.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket. Air-fry the carrots in a single layer (without overlapping) to ensure each piece is cooked evenly.
