I know I normally don’t post alcoholic beverages except for on Thursdays, but hell… who cares after the hellacious week I had last week?!?! Today I’m bringing you something magical in a pitcher >>> Strawberry Kiwi Sangria.
We recently returned from our cross-country road trip to find out that Chance, my 12 year old boxer, has a horrible cancerous tumor on his left kidney.
I mean, I knew he was getting gray and all and was starting to have pee-pee accidents…. but CANCER? Really? What just hit me like a ton of bricks?
I feel like I’m losing my best friend. Nothing can be done about it at this point but keep him cozy and happy. He still wags his tail, gets perky from time-to-time and is taking it like a champ.
I had big plans for the blog when I got back. One of the recipes I made the day after we returned was this Strawberry Kiwi Sangria.
It’s so weird how things happen… as I was putting together what I thought would be an awesome sangria, I only had a few sips once I was done and placed it in the refrigerator. Little did I know I’d really be needing it the next day after I took Chance to the vet.
I drank almost the whole damn pitcher in my rocking chair on the back porch. Yep, I said it.
And it was the most comforting, tasty pitcher of boozy fruit I’ve ever had. For real.
I hope that you’re not needing this kind of comfort anytime soon, but I strongly encourage you to give this sangria a try before the end of summer. It’s not over, YET!
Cheers to Chance.
