Get festive this holiday season with these incredibly cute and colorful Grinch Kabobs! These easy fruit kabobs are not only fun to make but are also a wholesome and delicious snack choice.
These kabobs are a perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit and are a fun conversation starter. They’re prepared with simple ingredients and always get wiped out at holiday gatherings!
Why You’ll Love This Grinch Appetizer
- Family-friendly activity: Making these fruit kabobs is a great way to get kids involved in the kitchen, encouraging them to participate in holiday preparations.
- Guilt-free snacking: Beyond being a festive treat, these Grinch Kabobs are a convenient and wholesome snack option.
- Quick, simple, and easy: These kabobs come together in about 10 minutes with just a few ingredients.
Ingredients Needed
- Green grapes: The grapes will be the Grinch’s “head”.
- Banana slices: The banana slice serves as the bottom of the Grinch hat.
- Strawberries: The Christmas Santa “hat”. You will need to cut off the green leafy tops.
- Mini marshmallows: The ball of the red (strawberry) hat.
- Orange juice: Dipping the banana slices in an acidic fruit juice helps to prevent them from browning. This is completely optional, but I highly recommend. Any acidic juice (such as lemon, pineapple, or orange) can be used.
- Skewers – I use 4-inch bamboo skewers that I found in the gadget section of my grocery store. Toothpicks can also be used, but I’ve found that they are often not long enough.
How to Make Grinch Kabobs
Please see the recipe card for the detailed instructions.
- Thread a grape onto a 4-inch skewer.
- Thread a banana slice over the grape.
- Thread a strawberry on top of the banana slice (make sure the pointed part of the strawberry is pointed up so that it resembles a Santa hat).
- Thread a mini marshmallow over the strawberry.
Helpful Tips
- Fresh ingredients: Choose crisp green grapes and ripe strawberries without soft spots or bruises. Ensure your bananas are not overly-ripe or they will brown faster.
- Wash fruit thoroughly: Rinse the grapes and strawberries thoroughly with water to remove any dirt and debris, and pat dry with a paper towel.
- Delay banana browning: Dip the banana slices in an acidic fruit juice to delay browning.
Storage
Although these kabobs are best when served within a few hours of preparing, they can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before serving.
