“Dogs’ lives are too short. Their only fault, really”. ~ Agnes Sligh Turnbull
My mom recently lost her English bulldog (my sissy, Blossom) of almost 14 years to… well, old age. It freaking sucks.
Those of us that are dog lovers realize that there is always that one special dog. You know what I’m talking about. Not that any other dog you’ve owned (or own) is any less special. There’s always that one canine soul that we connect to somehow, some way… that cannot be explained.
If you don’t get the gist of what I’m talking about at this point you’re probably not a dog person.
I forgive you. But you’re missing out. For real.
Why?
I’ll tell you why. Because dogs are so much smarter than us in so many ways. Blossom was pretty much the only “sibling” I’ve ever had growing up, and I’m gonna give you a little narrative of what she taught me over the years:
Play hard.
Because life is short and time is precious. Screw the bullsh*t and be your own person… all the time. To hell with what everyone else thinks of you. Love yourself for who you are.
Love with passion.
Never be afraid to show your true feelings about someone. Go ahead, let it all hang out. If that special someone loves you enough in return, they won’t judge. It’s all good.
Take time to relax.
You are worthy of having “me-time”. Sit back, chill out and just reflect.
Realize your beauty.
Nothing needs to be said for this one.
Be prepared for rainy days.
Life isn’t perfect. Accept it and be prepared for those imperfect moments… and deal with that shit in style. You got this.
Celebrate life.
I couldn’t think of any more appropriate cocktail to celebrate Blossom’s transition to the Rainbow Bridge than something awesome prepared with Pinnacle Vodka’s Rainbow Sherbet Vodka. Cheers to 14 years of unconditional love, Blossom. You will be missed.

It’s hard to believe Blossom has been gone over 2 years. Her sweet memory is with me every single day. You were the best “sissy” any dog could ask for. She was so very much more than a “dog”. Cheers to Blossom!

I have a special friend/pet too 🙂 His name is Kodiak and he is a black pom! He is 14 years old. Thanks for sharing Blossom with us! My other special friend/pet is Pepper and she is a load of fun 🙂 She is blonde pom and she is 12 1/2. She is always smiling and waiting for me whenever I leave the house. I can always count on her to be there waiting at the front door whenever I come home!!

I have always known Amy as an amazing woman, wise beyond her years, with a deep love and respect for her Mom…the kind we all want as mothers. And she’s never been ashamed to voice her love and admiration. After reading Blossom’s piece here…all i can say is that Amy Rocks & her mom is a very lucky woman….
We all do have that one doggy bond.
