It’s another Thursday and I CANNOT believe that Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Today I’m sharing with you a sangria recipe that is PERFECT to share (or not) with your family and friends during the holidays: Spiced Cranberry Apple Sangria.
I recently made this sangria for Our State Magazine‘s food blog, Our State Eats which focuses the heritage and foods of my home state of North Carolina. When I recently went on a cross-country road trip, I could definitely tell that I’m a homebody at heart… I love where I live and there’s no place like home here in NC. Don’t get me wrong: I was greatly appreciative of the experience of a lifetime! But dang wasn’t I glad to be home.
Finding out that Chance has cancer two days after getting home was a tough pill to swallow. I’ve tried to spend as much quality time with him as I can during his last days. A big thanks to my best friend, Melissa, for taking pictures of us at the shore the other day. This is his favorite spot to run and play, and most people know him by name at the shore. We’ve spent many days and evenings on this little beach.
It seems like when life gets tough, there’s always little gifts and blessings that come along right when you need them. Since I started being so fanatic over food photography, it has always been my ultimate dream to have a photograph grace a magazine that I was passionate about. I’m so excited to say that I’m going to have a full page holiday cocktail (an awesome Cranberry Bourbon Martini!) in the December issue of Our State Magazine… WORD.
Merry Christmas to me. I think I’ll just stare at it all day in disbelief when it comes in the mail (LOL!).
This sangria is chock full of cranberries and apples. Clove-studded lemon wheels add a hint of spicy citrus that takes an already delicious sangria to a whole new level. You can get the full recipe by visiting Our State Magazine here. What’s your favorite holiday sangria?

Hi Amy,
First, I’m sorry to hear about Chance. It’s so hard to lose a member of the family like that.
Second, great to see the full page ad in the December issue of Our State when it arrived today. My taste buds immediately began to salivate over the cranberry bourbon cocktail! Unfortunately, I can’t find the recipe!!!! The not at the bottom of the ad says to look at the eats.ourstate.com food blog, which I did and I just can’t find any beverages of your more recent than the sangria cocktail! I’ve GOT to make this so HELP!!!!

Hi Bowen, thank you so very much! I haven’t seen the photograph yet so you made my day with your comment. The recipe for the martini should be up on the site very soon. Thank you again!

My heart aches for you, over the news about Chance. Went through something similar several months ago and it is so very hard. Enjoy him and realize that although your mind is sad, he doesn’t know anything other than that he is LOVED!
On a better note, congratulations on the “Our State” publication. What a wonderful magazine we have in NC!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Terri! Chance does know he is loved for sure. And thanks for the congrats, too… I’m so very excited!
