Now let’s be real here… who needs a silver cup to enjoy the classic Mint Julep?
Honestly, I’ve never been into any kind of pro sports, racing or anything of the nature.
But one thing’s for sure: You can always count me in for the party. Â
We recently got invited to my first Kentucky Derby party and of course we accepted. Apparently my big round head has to sport a big hat for a contest.
And I’m soooooo looking forward to it!
The Mint Julep is the traditional drink of the Kentucky Derby, so I’m sure I’ll be sipping on a few of these. It’s customary that they’re served in silver cups, but I didn’t have a silver cup to prepare this in. Doesn’t matter to me. Oh, and the ice is supposed to be crushed. I can handle that.
I’ve never had much to do with horses at all until I recently moved. My new neighbor has 2 of the most beautiful friendly horses, and I visit them about once a week to feed them a few carrots.
Aren’t they the coolest?
So it doesn’t matter if you’re into horses, racing or competitive sports… you can always enjoy this cocktail like I do… at ANY event!
Disclosure: The folks at Knob Creek were nice enough to provide me with a bottle of their awesome bourbon that I made this Mint Julep with. All opinions shared are my own.

Hahahaha, those horse photos are hilarious! I’m with you, I’ve never been to the races but if it’s an excuse to have one of these babies I’m in! Your beverage photos are stellar!

Thank you so much, Valerie… they’re one of my favorite things to photograph. The horses, on the other hand, weren’t that easy to capture! 🙂
