So, my mom gave me this bottle of cherry lemonade vodka the other day… told me she keeps forgetting to drink it (WHAT?) and to use it for Thirsty Thursday. So I made this delicious Cherry Lemon Martini!
So I did. And it’s kind of ironic that it is a lemon martini, ’cause Mama just told me that I sure knew how to make “lemonade out of lemons” when life throws curve balls.
She was wrong. I make lemon martinis!
You know what I’m talking about…we all have those times in life when we come to a crossroads and need to make important decisions that will affect the rest of our lives. Sometimes, our “inner chicken” tells us what is right, but we don’t want to listen to it because what is best for us may be outside of our comfort zones.
I’ve never expressed my religion on the blog, but I believe God throws us those curve balls to give us a big shove towards the right direction sometimes… wherever that direction may be.
Now that my little inspirational message is out of the way, let me tell you how to make something awesome out of those lemons.
You see that white plate in the left corner? Well, that’s sugar for rimming the glass. Learning lesson for me not to use a white plate when photographing sugar.
What you’re gonna need for this martini is cherry lemonade vodka, simple syrup, triple sec, lemon juice, sugar, ice and a shaker.
If you can’t find simple syrup, it’s super easy to make at home. All you’ll need to do is place equal parts of sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Once it comes to a boil, reduce heat and simmer (stirring constantly) for about 2-3 minutes, or until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Now, go get to squeezin’ those lemons and make something wonderful out of them! Cheers!
