This recipe brings back memories of childhood….my Mama’s fried chicken.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs cut up chicken
- 2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup buttermilk
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2-3 cups cup vegetable oil
Instructions
- Mix Old Bay seasoning, flour, salt & pepper thoroughly in 1 gallon plastic storage bag (shake well)
- Dip one piece of chicken in buttermilk
- Place in bag & shake to coat chicken; one piece at a time
- Immediately place in VERY hot oil in fryer
- Continue coating chicken with buttermilk & flour mixture until pan is full
- Reduce to medium heat and cover until chicken is golden brown on each side (approximately 25 minutes)
- Remove lid last 5 minutes of frying so chicken will be crispy
- Place chicken on paper towels to absorb excess oil
